SAN MATEO
Safeway, 800 Delaware Street (at Peninsula Avenue)
This shake-roof era Safeway still has the classic Circle S sign out front,
and painted-on department labeling similar to that of the South San Francisco
ex-White Front location. Aisle hangers definitely date back to the
1980s Safeway motif.

(New, 12/21/06)
This independent supermarket is across the street from the site of a wingless
marina Safeway from 1959, which, according to Justin Karimzad, operated as
an independent until 1989, then sat boarded up until a 2000 demolition.
