BURLINGAME

Longs Drugs, Burlingame Plaza
On the site of a demolished Purity supermarket.

Union 76 (Bay Area Oil Supply), 1876 El Camino Real  (at Murchison)
This 76 station, with its ball, is located just a block from the unit at Millbrae Avenue and El Camino Real, but a full city line away.  (Murchison serves as the municipal boundary.)  Both stations are run by the same franchisee.
exterior

Lunardi's, Burlingame Plaza
Originally a 1950s Lee Brothers market, then a Petrini's.
exterior

Mollie Stone's, Chapin Avenue at El Camino Real
Interesting arch-roof style store from the upmarket Bay Area chain.  According to Justin Karimzad, this structure is actually a former bubble-roof 1950 Lucky which closed in the 1990s and was remodeled by Mollie Stone's.
exterior

Safeway, Howard Avenue (at El Camino Real)
This 1950s pylon store was remodeled in the 1970s into the shakeroof prototype; according to Justin Karimzad, the produce section (facing El Camino Real on its south) was the original checkstand area, with the current checkstand section a completely new addition in the shakeroof-era remodel.  Interestingly, the store's decor package utilizes few words, preferring photographs instead - a likely addition from the Eighties that I haven't seen very often.

Walgreens, Howard Avenue
The stone facing hints at its April 1968 opening date (from Justin Karimzad's notes); apparently the interior is also unremodeled as well.
